Imagology and Its Method(s) in the 21st Century

In recent decades imagology has become the fastest growing field of research within comparative literature, based both on established older approaches, such as Hugo Dyserinck Aachen Programme, and on newer impulses resulting from poststructuralist and postmodern focus on otherness. This paper will try to assess the potential of imagology to incorporate and build on a wider frame of theoretical references, and will argue for a methodological expansion which can bring together exciting work being done in other fields and in neighbouring areas of comparative literature.
