Brief
introduction:
The
faculty
consists of 23
departments: 10 single major and 33 double major undergraduate study
programmes.
The study
programmes normally
last 3 years, with the exception of Latin Language and Literature,
Philosophy,
Greek Language and Literature, Indology, Russian Language and
Literature and
Ukrainian Language and Literature, which last 4 years.
Psychology:
the only single
major undergraduate study programme.
The Foreign
Languages Centre
and the Teacher Education Centre are involved in carrying out of some
parts of
study programmes.

including 69 courses. With the addition of modules, that number rises
to 74.
All graduate
study programmes
last 2 years, with the exception of Latin Language and Literature,
Philosophy,
Greek Language and Literature, Indology, Russian Language and
Literature and Ukrainian
Language and Literature, which last 1 year.
Archaeology,
Psychology and
History are the only single major graduate study programmes.
English
Language and
Literature, Philosophy, Information Sciences, Comparative Literature,
Pedagogy,
History of Art and Italian Language and Literature can be studied both
as a
single major or double major study programmes.
FHSS
offers
free study programmes
of Japanology and Sinology lasting 3 years.
Students are
rewarded a
certificate upon finishing the course.

The Centre for Croatian as a
second and foreign language at the Department of Croatian Studies at
the
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences runs teaching courses
(semester courses,
one month courses or summer school) as well as tests of proficiency in
Croatian
for speakers of other languages. Every semester Croaticum enrols
approximately
200 attendants. Croaticum offers mentoring courses which are designed
to train
future lecturers to work at foreign universities. Croaticum also
organizes
demonstrations and expert consultation for the future lecturers.

called "Philosophy" since December 2010. The canteen is located in
the basement of the faculty building.

FHSS International Students Club:
FHSS
International Students
Club was formed during the summer semester of 2011 as a part of the
project
created by FHSS student Doroteja Jaković.
The initial realization of the
project named "FHSS realizes international connections" is under
direct patronage of German non-governmental organization which works on
enhancing democracy and social youth engagement of THK (Theodor Heuss
Kollega),
one of the programmers of Robert Bosch foundation and organization
MitOst e.V. together
with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Zagreb.
The principal aims of the
project are: guidance and support for international students in the new
academic community, creation of a link with the most important pieces
of information,
establishment of a new mentoring programme which would organize
gatherings,
seminars, workshops, socializing (trips, cultural rallies, outings,
mutual
language learning), initiate domestic and international students'
interaction,
experience sharing, intercultural competencies enabling a creation of a
long
term international network of students of the same or related faculties
while
continuing the work of FHSS International Students Club.
