BIOGRAPHY
Born in 1981 in Varaždin. In 2004 graduated Croatian language and literature and ethnology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. In the same year she started Postgraduate doctoral study of literature, performance arts, film and culture. In October 2012 she defended her doctoral thesis titled The Festival and the Town – Cultural Policies, Performances and Identities. A Case Study of the Špancirfest, Varaždin. In 2011 she enrolled into the Postgraduate doctoral study of ethnology and cultural anthropology.
Worked as an assistant at the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, University of Zadar from September 2007 till October 2008. Since November 2008 works as a junior researcher and assistant at the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, on the project “Cultural Presentations of Croatian Space: Postcoloniality and Croatian Ethnology” (supervisor dr. Tomislav Pletenac, associate professor). She teaches courses Anthropology of tourism and Anthropology of festivals.
She attended summers schools organized by the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology dedicated to the relationship between ethnology and tourism (2006 and 2007), the workshop “Communication in Science – Writing and Speaking about your Research” organized by the Doctoral Studies and Programmes Office of the University of Zagreb (2010), the summer school “Rethinking Anthropological Engagement in Central-Eastern Europe” organized by the Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology of the University of Warsaw (2010) and the summer school of the Department of History of the Centre for Croatian Studies of the University of Zagreb, titled “Croats and the Americas” (2012).
Apart from the project she collaborates on as a junior researcher, she also participated in the following projects: “Croatian Ethnographic Heritage in the Context of Cultural Politics” (since 2008, under the supervision of dr. Tihana Petrović Leš, associate professor), “Identity and Ethnogenesis of Coastal Bunjevci” and “Identity and Etno-cultural Formation of Bunjevci” (2002-2009, under the supervision of dr. Milana Černelić, professor); the project dedicated to the research of Međugorje (since 2006, under the supervision of dr. Marijana Belaj, associate professor). In 2008 in collaboration with assistants of the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology of the University of Zadar she designed the project “The Korčula moreška – Cultural Heritage as the Symbol of Identity in the Context of Tourism”. In 2005 she received the “Franjo Marković” award, awarded by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb for her contribution to the project “Political Places in Change” (under the supervision of dr. Kirsti Mathiesen Hjemdahl from the University of Bergen and dr. Nevena Škrbić Alempijević, associate professor).
She is the member of the Croatian Ethnological Society and the Société Internationale d’Ethnologie et de Folklore (SIEF). The focuses of her scientific interest are the processes of the construction of heritage, the anthropology of festivals and the anthropology of tourism.
