Biography:
He is a Research Fellow (Tenured Appointment) at the Institute of Research and Development of Sustainable Ecosystems and External Associate at the Ruđer Bošković Institute. He was born on 28th of November, 1969 in Prilep in the Diocese of Prespa and Pelagonia in Macedonia to a Christian family of Macedonian Bulgarians. Elementary and High School he finished in Veles (Macedonia). He studied Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Science University of Zagreb (Alma Mater) when he graduated in 1996. From the same Institution, he also received his Master of Science degree (in 2001; Molecular and Cell Biology Program). He was the Rector’s Award Winner for 1992 (University of Zagreb), and was granted the Stipend for Studying Abroad (1996-1997; Ministry of Science of Republic of Macedonia). He received his Ph.D. from the University of Zagreb in 2010. His Dissertation in Genetics, Evolution and Phylogeny was mentored by Professor Zoran Zgaga (1956-2011). He spent his postdoctoral term within the research group of Professor Krunoslav Brčić-Kostić (2011-2013; Laboratory for Evolutionary Genetics, Division of Molecular Biology, Ruđer Bošković Institute). On 12th of September, 2016 he was appointed Research Associate in the Area of Natural Sciences, Field of Biology (Scientific Field Committee; Ministry of Science, Education, and Sports of the Republic of Croatia). Since October 1st, 2016 he is an External Associate at the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb (Study of Anthropology).
He was appointed President of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Research and Development of Sustainable Ecosystems (2013-2015). Also, he has collaborated in and co-headed several scientific projects (period: 1998-2018). He attended many scientific summer school, courses and workshops (period: 1994-2014). He lectured or presented posters at two dozens of scientific conferences (period: 1995-2016). He lectured or guest-lectures at the Catholic University of Croatia (Universitas Studiorum Catholica Croatica) (2013-2015), or at the Faculty of Science University of Zagreb, and at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Rijeka, respectively. He authored or co-authored many scientific papers, book chapters and short theological-philosophical-scientific essays. He delivered a dozen invited lectures both in Croatia and abroad (period: 1996-2015). He peer-reviews for several international and domestic scientific journals. He is a member of several professional associations both from Croatia and abroad. He has organized/co-organized couple of domestic and international scientific meetings and was invited to many public debates, and other intellectual events (period: 1997-2016). He was a guest at several television or radio shows dedicated to science and also gave several interviews exploring the relationships between science and Christian beliefs (period: 2001-2017).
