Ivica Baković (b. in Čakovec in 1982) graduated Croatian and Slavic languages and literatures in 2007 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, and he defended his doctoral thesis entitled The Performance of History in Macedonian and Croatian Drama in the Second Half of the 20th Century in 2013, with Professor Borislav Pavlovski as his supervisor. From 2007 to 2013 he was employed as a junior researcher and teaching assistant, and in 2013 he became senior assistant at the Department of South Slavic Languages and Literatures, within which he gives courses on Macedonian literature. He is a collaborator on a project Literary, Language and Cultural Aspects of Croatian and Macedonian Relations, he has collaborated with the Miroslav Krleža Institute of Lexicography, working on projects the Croatian Literary Encyclopedia and Theatre Lexicon. He won a number of scholarships for a study visit (in 2007 and 2008 at the University of Skopje within a CEEPUS scholarship programme; in 2008 at the Université Lille III, supported by the Government of the French Republic; in 2010/11 at the University of Skopje within a BASILEUS programme). His book “Drama about History: History and Memory in Croatian and Macedonian Drama of the Second Half of the 20th Century” (Zagreb: Srednja Europa, 2018) and several literary translations from the Macedonian language were published. He is a member of the Croatian Literary Translators’ Association. He has participated in quite a few international conferences both at home and abroad, and he has published a number of journal articles in conference proceedings and scientific journals.
